A 67-year-old Somerset man was killed Friday morning after his three-wheeled Can‑Am Spyder collided with a dump truck on Route 6 in Swansea, according to local authorities. The rider, identified as Alan Scott, was taken to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.
According to Boston 25 News, Massachusetts State Police responded to the scene and the crash remains under investigation.
Where and when it happened
Swansea police said officers were dispatched to Route 6 just after 8:15 a.m. Friday in the area of Swansea Mall Drive, where they found a collision involving a motorcycle and a small dump truck. Emergency crews rushed Scott to a hospital and shut down the roadway for several hours while investigators documented the scene, according to Fall River Reporter.
Vehicles involved and investigation
Boston 25 News described the bike as a blue Can‑Am Spyder Roadster and reported that the operator of the dump truck was not injured. State police detectives assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office were assisting Swansea police as they worked to piece together how the crash unfolded.
The District Attorney’s Office had not immediately returned requests for comment, and local outlets noted that the crash scene was taped off and photographed as investigators collected evidence. Officials have not yet released a cause of the collision and said they will provide updates as more information becomes available.
Route 6 carries a steady mix of local and commercial traffic through the SouthCoast, and police said the investigation could take time as they review vehicle damage, interview witnesses and look for any available video. Anyone with information about the crash is urged to contact Swansea Police or the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
