
Houston police say a Wednesday afternoon crash in north Houston left one person dead on South Victory Street, turning an otherwise ordinary day into a deadly scene.
The collision happened just after 1:15 p.m. in the 900 block of South Victory Street near Knox Street, where emergency crews found a heavily damaged Infiniti and another vehicle. Authorities pronounced an occupant of the Infiniti dead at the scene.
Crash Details on South Victory
According to ABC13 Houston, a white Dodge truck traveling westbound on Victory struck a gray Infiniti sedan. The driver of the Dodge is being checked to see if alcohol was a factor, and investigators are also looking into whether the Dodge was speeding.
Investigators Work the Scene
HPD said its Vehicular Crimes Unit is investigating the incident, and aerial images from SkyEye showed crews working the scene on Wednesday afternoon, ABC13 reported. Detectives are expected to process the crash site, interview witnesses and review any available video as they piece together what led to the collision.
Possible Charges Ahead
If detectives find evidence of impairment that links to the death, prosecutors could pursue intoxication manslaughter under the Texas Penal Code.
