Sporting Club Jacksonville, better known around town as Sporting JAX, has officially punched its ticket to the Gainbridge Super League playoffs. The expansion club clinched a postseason berth on Monday, a milestone moment for the First Coast as the team caps a breakout inaugural campaign. The result guarantees playoff soccer at UNF's Hodges Stadium this spring, the first postseason run for the city's new professional side.
The clinch itself came without JAX even taking the field. Fort Lauderdale United FC beat DC Power FC 3-1, a result that mathematically eliminated DC Power and locked Sporting JAX into the league's top four. According to Action News Jax, Sporting JAX sits at the top of the table with 44 points and still has six regular-season matches to go.
Standings and leaders
Chasing Jacksonville in the standings are Lexington SC with 40 points, Carolina Ascent FC with 36, and Dallas Trinity FC with 32, which means seeding is far from settled. Recent league reports from the Gainbridge Super League show Sporting JAX powered in attack by Ashlyn Puerta with 11 goals, with Paige Kenton on 9 and Baylee DeSmit on 7 among the top scorers. In goal, Kaitlyn Parks leads the league in clean sheets.
Home stretch at Hodges Stadium
Sporting JAX still has six regular-season games left, and two of them at UNF's Hodges Stadium could loom large for final seeding. The club's schedule lists an April 25 showdown with Lexington SC and a May 3 match against Brooklyn FC, both at home. Match dates and single-game tickets are posted on Sporting JAX, and the club's ticket portal highlights details on priority playoff access through Sporting JAX.
What to expect in the postseason
The Super League playoffs are a straight single-elimination bracket. The No. 1 seed hosts No. 4, while No. 2 hosts No. 3 in one-off semifinals, and the final is played at the home stadium of the higher remaining seed. That format puts a premium on regular-season positioning, so Jacksonville's remaining push is all about banking as many points as possible before the bracket kicks off, according to the Gainbridge Super League.
