A 32-year-old Statesville man was killed late Tuesday night after his motorcycle left Midway Road and hit a fence, a single-vehicle crash that drew an overnight response from troopers and emergency crews and left neighbors and fellow riders in the area shaken.
Crash Details
The wreck happened around 10:45 p.m. Tuesday on Midway Road near Storm Lane, where troopers say the rider drove off the roadway, struck a fence and overturned. The motorcyclist, later identified as 32-year-old Caleb Pender, was riding a 2002 Honda CBR600 when he was ejected from the bike. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead, according to WCCB Charlotte.

The North Carolina State Highway Patrol is investigating the fatal collision and says speed and impairment are believed to be contributing factors. Officials have described the crash as a single-vehicle incident as the probe continues, as reported by WBTV.
