Clouds are parked over Oklahoma City early Tuesday, with temperatures hovering around 63°F at Will Rogers World Airport and spotty showers already in the mix. Thunderstorms are on the table through the day, with the main action expected from mid-morning into late afternoon, so it is a good day to keep the rain jacket by the door.
Afternoon Storms Could Be Strong
Scattered thunderstorms are possible Tuesday, and a few could flirt with severe levels. Forecasters say hail is the main concern across northern Oklahoma, while damaging winds and even an isolated tornado cannot be ruled out farther south. The most active window runs roughly from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., with about a 40% chance of rain and generally light totals under one tenth of an inch. As of now, there are no watches or warnings in effect for the metro, according to the National Weather Service in Norman.
What To Expect For Your Day
Afternoon highs should top out near 71°F with a north-northeast breeze around 10 to 14 mph. By tonight, readings drop to about 48°F, and gusts could nudge up near 20 to 21 mph. Showers should wind down by late afternoon, leaving skies to turn partly to mostly clear overnight. Near-Term Outlook
Drier, cooler air settles in on Wednesday with a comfortable high near 70°F. Another round of showers and thunderstorms is possible from Thursday into Friday, with rain most likely on Friday as chances climb toward 60%. The payoff comes over the weekend, when temperatures bounce back to near 70°F under mostly sunny skies Saturday, then warm into the upper 70s Sunday and low 80s by Monday, according to the National Weather Service in Norman.
