What police describe as a planned gun sale on a Nashville street ended with a 21-year-old man shot and a teenager facing a serious robbery charge.
On March 17, a 17-year-old met a 21-year-old buyer along the 3400 block of Timber Trail Drive for what was supposed to be an AR-style rifle sale, according to Metro Nashville police. Investigators say the deal suddenly flipped into an armed robbery attempt, and a struggle over the weapon broke out. The buyer was shot in the thigh but managed to escape in his vehicle, leaving the suspect at the scene, police said.
The teen, identified by police as Bre’ohnn Blackmun, was later charged in juvenile court with especially aggravated robbery, according to WSMV. Authorities say the charge stems from what began as a rifle sale and escalated into the shooting.
Police tracking youth-involved robbery-shootings
Metro detectives have been logging a steady stream of teen-involved robbery and shooting cases this year, according to the department’s media updates. Police say those incidents are keeping both the juvenile crime and non-lethal shooting units busy as they work through a mix of arrests, suspect searches, and follow-up investigations.
In a series of recent public notices, investigators have highlighted multiple juvenile arrests tied to robbery-related shootings and have paired those updates with safety reminders and appeals for tips, per a Metro Nashville Police Department media release.
What’s next for the case
Blackmun remains charged in juvenile court, where cases are typically more closed off to public view and often move on a different timetable than adult prosecutions. Police have not released further information about the 21-year-old victim or indicated whether additional charges could follow, WSMV reported.
Anyone with information about the March 17 shooting is asked to contact Metro Nashville Police at 615-862-8600 or submit tips through the department’s public channels, according to the agency’s media pages.
