In a brief update on X, Sheriff Ed Gonzalez identified the victim as 18-year-old Anthony Perla, born April 29, 2007, and named the defendant as Christopher Jordan, born Jan. 16, 2003. Gonzalez stated that Jordan has been charged with murder and has been arrested and booked into the Harris County Jail, according to Sheriff Ed Gonzalez. The sheriff’s post did not include a description of how the shooting unfolded or any information about a possible motive.

Under Texas law, murder as defined in Penal Code Section 19.02 is generally treated as a first-degree felony, which can carry a prison term ranging from five to 99 years or life, according to the Texas Penal Code.
