Police are searching for a suspect who assaulted a 75-year-old man on the Upper East Side on Friday evening, in an attack that has neighbors on edge and detectives asking the public for help.

The incident happened at about 5:21 p.m. on April 10 in front of 1578 York Avenue, where the assailant allegedly pushed the victim to the ground and then struck him, according to police. NYPD Crime Stoppers has posted a wanted alert and is offering a reward for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.

According to a wanted notice posted by NYPD Crime Stoppers, the suspect approached the 75-year-old man, got into a verbal dispute with him and then assaulted him outside the York Avenue building. Investigators are reviewing surveillance footage and are looking to speak with anyone who may have seen what happened.

In the Crime Stoppers notice, police say the attacker "pushed the victim to the ground" and then "punched and kicked the victim about the body." Tips that lead to an arrest and indictment may be eligible for a reward of up to $3,500.
