A 20-year-old man is in custody after what deputies describe as a short but tense robbery spree along the Watt Avenue corridor, where fast-food joints and convenience stores were hit over several weeks and a gas-mart employee was pepper-sprayed.
Sheriff's account of the robberies
In a post on X, the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office said detectives linked three February robberies to a single suspect: a Popeyes on February 2, the Great Gas Food Mart at Watt Avenue and Marconi Avenue on February 4, and a Subway on February 23. Deputies say the robber stole cash from registers, was spotted wearing a single glove, and pepper-sprayed an employee during the Great Gas incident.
Following the investigation, detectives obtained an arrest warrant and on March 17 arrested 20-year-old Jamon Dupree of Pittsburg at a Chevron station on Watt Avenue, directly across from the Great Gas Food Mart, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office.
