The chain of events started around 12:30 p.m., after the Gulf County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a local employer reporting that an employee had not shown up for work and asking deputies to conduct a welfare check. Deputies first went to the business to gather details, then headed to the couple’s last known address, where no one answered the door, and continued checking other locations. Family and friends later managed to get inside the home and discovered the couple, according to WJHG.
