
A Sunday drive along the 1400 block of Queens Road West in south Charlotte turned tragic when a BMW M3 ran off the road and hit a tree, killing a passenger, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police. The victim has been identified as 22-year-old Keegan McKenney. Other occupants were pulled from the wreckage and taken to nearby hospitals.
Crash details
Investigators say the BMW was headed west on Queens Road West when it left the roadway and crashed into a tree. Emergency crews had to extricate the occupants from the vehicle. One passenger later died, while others were transported to local hospitals with injuries, as reported by Queen City News.

Detectives with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department’s Major Crash Investigation Unit are working to piece together what led up to the wreck and whether speed or impairment played a role. Police say the occupants were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash.
