A pre-dawn stabbing in north Houston sent a man to the hospital early Monday after police say a woman attacked him on Werner Street, then stayed put as officers arrived.
Police response and investigation
According to Click2Houston, Houston police were called to the 6100 block of Werner Street at about 3 a.m. Officers found a man suffering from stab wounds and detained a woman at the scene. The victim was taken to a hospital, but his condition was not immediately known.
Police have kept details tight so far. In the initial hours of the investigation, authorities did not publicly identify either the injured man or the woman who was detained.
Werner Street's recent history
This is not the first time serious violence has shaken that stretch of Werner. In 2018, a shooting on the same block injured three people, according to reporting by the Houston Chronicle. That earlier incident has lingered in the background as part of broader public-safety concerns in parts of the Northline area.
Investigation ongoing
Houston police say the case remains under active investigation, and detectives are still working to piece together what led up to the stabbing. Officials have not said whether any charges will be filed. More information is expected to be released as the investigation moves forward.
