Grandma’s Greek Taste, the family-run Greek counter that set up shop in Alamo Heights last year, has gone dark after a notice of changed locks appeared on its Stewart Center storefront in early May. Dated May 8, the document cites unpaid rent and related obligations, leaving the restaurant sealed and customers locked out.
According to MySA, the notice was issued by Fifth Corner and addressed to owner Saimir Pillana. The document lists "unpaid rent and related obligations" as the reason for the lockout. MySA noted that its last conversation with Pillana was ahead of Grandma’s Greek Taste’s grand opening.
New Owners Took Over Stewart Center
Fifth Corner teamed up with San Antonio-based Headwall Investments to acquire the Stewart Center in March, according to a press release on the deal. PR Newswire reported that the joint venture intends to roll out upgrades to the 53,000-square-foot property, a move that has also been noted by local commercial real estate outlets.
About Grandma's Greek Taste
Grandma’s Greek Taste took over the former Pinch Boil House space on Broadway in June 2025 and pitched itself as a neighborhood go-to for Greek street food, according to local coverage at the time of its opening. Express-News reported that co-owner Saimir Pllana said the concept grew out of the owners' operations in Europe.
Calls Unanswered
MySA reports that it reached out to Fifth Corner for comment and did not receive a response. Calls to Grandma’s Greek Taste, the outlet added, went straight to a full voicemail box. MySA stated it would update its story if the property manager or the restaurant shares additional information.
