Mesquite’s Gus Thomasson corridor may be getting another spot to grab a burger and some wings, as a new concept called Alvarado Burgers and Wings sets its sights on 4617 Gus Thomasson Rd.
Public filings list Los Jarritos Inc. as the applicant, and company president Erik Espinoza told reporters the project is still months away from welcoming customers. Espinoza confirmed that the menu focus will be burgers and wings and said a beer-and-wine program could be part of the dine-in experience, if and when the restaurant opens.
According to WhatNow, the filings identify the planned restaurant as Alvarado Burgers and Wings at the Gus Thomasson address and name Los Jarritos Inc. as the filer. The same outlet notes that Los Jarritos operates Jarro Kafe at 13331 Preston Rd in Dallas. In a statement to WhatNow, Espinoza said, “I cannot provide an exact timeline, as the restaurant has not yet been finalized,” while suggesting an opening could come after this trimester.
Site, lease status and drive-thru footprint
The City of Mesquite’s economic development materials identify 4617 Gus Thomasson as a former Sonic Drive-In and mark it as available “for lease or sale,” pointing to a ready-made restaurant layout and an existing drive-thru lane that could be put back to work if the new concept moves in. Commercial property records for the same parcel appear on real-estate platforms with matching address and parcel details, backing up the location cited in the filings. Listings on Crexi and information from Mesquite Economic Development show the same parcel details.
Gus Thomasson corridor's restaurant mix
The Gus Thomasson stretch is already a busy run for casual and quick-service eats, which helps explain why another burgers-and-wings concept might test the waters there. Nearby, diners can already find Porky’s Burgers & Wings, highlighted by Visit Mesquite, along with Wokk Asian Cookhouse, which lists online ordering through Toasttab, and Tortas Revolucion. Together, they keep the corridor humming with both dine-in and drive-thru traffic.
What to watch for next
Espinoza has repeatedly described Alvarado Burgers and Wings as an early-stage project and has only hinted that it could debut sometime after this trimester, stopping short of committing to a specific opening day. For now, locals keeping tabs on Gus Thomasson can watch for building permits, lease news, or a formal opening announcement to shed light on the final menu, operating hours, and whether that old drive-thru lane will stay in the playbook.
