Late Saturday in northwest Houston, a noise complaint outside a large Antoine Drive apartment complex ended with gunfire and a man in the hospital, according to police.
Officers were called just before midnight to the Diamond Ridge Apartment Homes, where they found a man who had been shot in the leg. He was taken to a hospital with injuries that investigators said were not believed to be life threatening. Police said the argument started after the victim complained about a loud vehicle, and the situation quickly escalated into a shooting.
Car Circles Back, Suspected Shooter Detained
Investigators said the victim gave officers a description of the shooter and the vehicle involved. While police were still at the scene gathering details, a car matching that description reportedly came back to the complex. The driver was detained and identified as the suspected gunman, and officers recovered a firearm during the response. Police said the two men knew each other before the confrontation that began when the victim was upset about the loud vehicle, according to Click2Houston.
Inside a Sprawling Antoine Drive Complex
Online listings describe Diamond Ridge as a long-established multifamily community along Antoine Drive, with multiple low-rise buildings and hundreds of units spread across the property, per Apartments.com. That scale gave officers plenty of ground to cover as they locked down the scene and searched for evidence late into the night.
Detectives Probing What Led Up to the Gunfire
Houston police said detectives are still sorting out exactly what happened before the shot was fired and whether any criminal charges will follow. A firearm was recovered and the detained driver has been identified as the suspected shooter, according to Click2Houston. Authorities have not yet released the names of those involved.
The case remains an active Houston Police Department investigation, and officials had not provided further updates at the time of publication.
