Johns Creek is getting a fresh shot of avocado this summer. Fast-growing café brand Toastique is set to open at 3005 Old Alabama Road, with local husband-and-wife team Steve and Randi Rubin at the helm. The shop is expected to serve the chain’s signature gourmet toasts, smoothie bowls, cold-pressed juices and coffee, and the Rubins say it will operate daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. A specific grand-opening date has not yet been announced.
What to Expect on Old Alabama Road
According to What Now, the Johns Creek café will join Toastique’s existing Atlanta-area locations in Midtown and East Cobb, taking over the space at 3005 Old Alabama Road. The outlet reports that the Rubins, who a company release notes have lived in Johns Creek for nearly 20 years, intend to open two additional Toastique locations in the area after this first one.
Once the doors open, guests can expect a menu built around gourmet toasts, smoothies, superfood bowls, coffee and cold-pressed juices, the release states, with the Johns Creek shop positioned as a daytime spot for quick breakfasts, working lunches and mid-afternoon pick-me-ups.
Owners, Mural Contest and Community Tie-ins
In a February press release promoting the new location, the Rubins said they want Toastique Johns Creek to function as a true neighborhood hub and launched a mural contest to help make that happen, according to Patch. The contest invited local artists ages 18 and up to design a feature-wall mural for the café, with a $2,500 first prize and Toastique gift cards on the line. Entrants were asked to submit their concepts by early April, per the release.
The same release and local listings highlight the operators’ backgrounds: Steve Rubin comes from the live events world, while Randi Rubin has a history in product development. The Johns Creek café will be their first Toastique location, with several more planned for the broader area.
Brand Momentum and Why It Matters
Toastique is not exactly a quiet newcomer. Market research firm Datassential named the brand the top emerging chain in its 2026 Top 25 Emerging Chains report, citing roughly 47 units and about 119% one-year growth. That surge includes the concept’s expansion into Georgia, where the company announced an East Cobb and Marietta opening as part of its broader Southeast rollout, according to a company release covered by PR Newswire.
For Johns Creek, that momentum means the Old Alabama Road shop is likely just the start. The Rubins say they will share hiring timelines and a firm grand-opening date as construction nears completion, and the mural contest winners are expected to begin work close to opening, according to the release. In the meantime, residents can keep an eye on local coverage and the franchise’s announcements for updates. We will post a preview and confirmed opening date once officials lock one in.
