Pennsylvania State Police are investigating the death of a five-month-old girl who died at a Best Western hotel in Leacock Township on Monday after a report of a possible drowning. Troopers and other first responders tried to save the child, but officials said she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Troopers were called to the Best Western along the 3600 block of East Newport Road in Leacock Township after the report, according to NBC10 Philadelphia. The property is listed online as the Best Western Plus Intercourse Village Inn & Suites at 3610 E. Newport Road, and Hotels.com notes that it has an indoor pool. Police have not said where the possible drowning occurred.
As NBC10 Philadelphia reports, “first responders found an unresponsive five-month-old girl” and tried to resuscitate her. Officials said those lifesaving efforts did not succeed and that the child's mother is cooperating with investigators.
