A Bensalem man is being held on one of the highest bail amounts Bucks County has seen in recent memory, after township police say they arrested him on a slate of child sexual assault charges and a judge set his bail at $10 million. Bensalem Township police announced Monday that 39-year-old William Hagan was arrested May 20, arraigned, and then sent to the Bucks County Correctional Facility, where he remains in custody.
What police allege
According to a Facebook post by the Bensalem Township Police Department, detectives took Hagan into custody on May 20 and charged him with aggravated indecent assault of a child, endangering the welfare of a child, indecent assault, and corruption of a minor. The post states that Magisterial District Judge Joseph Falcone set Hagan’s bail at $10,000,000 and that he was remanded to the Bucks County Correctional Facility.
Allegations in court documents
A probable cause affidavit reviewed by the Bucks County Courier Times lays out allegations involving a 6-year-old child who told investigators the conduct took place over roughly a year. According to the Courier Times, the child reported that the incidents often happened when Hagan was alone with the child in his car while going to buy gas.
The Courier Times reports that the most recent alleged incident occurred on May 12 at a Lukoil station on the 4600 block of Street Road. Hagan’s attorney told the paper, "There is a lot more to this story than is being publicized." The Courier Times reviewed the affidavit as part of its reporting.
