Officers quickly shut down the area around the intersection so investigators could work the scene and begin tracking down leads. As reported by CBS News Detroit, police emphasized there was no broader threat to the community while detectives processed evidence and followed up on initial witness accounts.
Investigators told CBS News Detroit that officers were actively working leads as they combed through the scene for clues about what led to the deadly encounter.
Arrest reported
By later that night, detectives said they had a break. According to The Detroit News, investigators identified, located, and arrested a suspect believed to be responsible at about 9:20 p.m. Officials did not disclose where the arrest took place.

How residents can help

CBS News Detroit noted that even small tips could help detectives piece together how the confrontation started and why it turned deadly.
