A quiet Mooresville neighborhood turned into a crime scene late last week after two homes were hit in separate break-ins, one of them left streaked with blood and a sliding glass door ripped off its track. Neighbors along Lakeshore Drive told deputies they heard screaming, saw interior lights blazing and noticed a garage door standing open. A short time later, investigators tracked a suspect to a nearby Airbnb and arrested him on charges tied to both incidents, with bond set at $75,000.
Scene and evidence
Responding to a 911 call at a Lakeshore Drive home late Thursday, deputies found a trail of blood through the residence and clear signs of forced entry, according to Queen City News. Investigators reported that the rear sliding glass door had been pulled completely off its track. Witnesses also told authorities that lights were on inside the house and the garage door was open that night, details that added to neighbors’ unease.
Arrest at nearby Airbnb
Per the Iredell County Sheriff's Office, deputies soon tied an attempted breaking and entering at a second home on Viewpoint Drive to the same suspect. During a canvass of the area, they found a man at a nearby Airbnb who matched witness descriptions from the neighborhood. The sheriff’s office said he had injuries consistent with evidence collected at the Lakeshore Drive scene, which helped investigators link the two incidents.
Charges and bond
Deputies identified the suspect as Cameron John Walker of Dorchester, Ontario, and charged him in connection with both breaking and entering cases, according to Queen City News. Walker is being held on a $75,000 bond while detectives continue to review evidence and chase down leads. Authorities said the investigation remains active.
Neighbors on edge
Residents in the area said they were rattled after seeing flashing patrol lights and hearing screams the night of the break-ins. Several neighbors reported noticing a garage door left open, which only heightened their concern. Local law enforcement is urging residents to keep doors locked, stay alert and call the sheriff’s office nonemergency line to report anything suspicious. Anyone with information about either case is asked to contact the Iredell County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division.
