What is usually a quiet residential stretch of Mark Street in Sulphur Springs turned into an active investigation zone last Saturday morning after human skeletal remains were found near a home, authorities said. Detectives and Texas Rangers swept the surrounding area and recovered additional bones, all of which were collected for forensic testing. The discovery has neighbors on edge while local investigators work to figure out who the person was and what happened.
According to KLTV, Sulphur Springs officers were dispatched around 8:55 a.m. last Saturday after a caller reported finding the remains. Investigators then combed the area and located more skeletal material, FOX 4 reports. Police secured the scene and began collecting evidence.
Remains Sent To Dallas Lab
The recovered bones were transported to the Southwestern Institute of Forensic Sciences in Dallas for identification and cause-of-death analysis.
