
A late-night shooting on a Unionport block left a 29-year-old man dead early Sunday, according to police. Officers responding to a 911 call around 12:17 a.m. on Haviland Avenue found the victim with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was taken by private means to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
As reported by News 12 The Bronx, the NYPD said the man’s identity is being withheld until his family is notified. No arrests have been made, and detectives from the department’s homicide squad are investigating.

The shooting took place in Unionport, which sits in Bronx Community District 9 and falls under the jurisdiction of the NYPD’s 43rd Precinct.
