Columbus’ already stacked brunch roster is about to get a new challenger. Wild Eggs, the Louisville-born breakfast and brunch chain, is lining up its first Columbus restaurant later this year as it pushes deeper into Ohio.
The brand has built its reputation on a scratch-kitchen menu and creative spins on classic brunch plates. If the local deal comes together, Columbus diners can look for weekday breakfast service, shareable brunch options, and the chain’s signature dishes that have fueled its regional expansion.
The move first surfaced on May 13 in a report by Dan Eaton of Columbus Business First, which appears to be the earliest public sign that Wild Eggs is targeting the Columbus market.
Over on its own site, Wild Eggs now lists “Columbus” as “COMING SOON,” alongside existing Ohio locations in Cincinnati. The company has been steadily planting flags across Kentucky and Indiana while building that smaller Ohio footprint.
FSR recently covered a new opening in Evansville and noted that additional restaurants in Columbus and Dayton are expected later this year. In a January Q&A, CEO Andy Abbajay described the expansion strategy this way, per Franchise Chatter: “We’re very intentional about how and where we grow.”
Where Wild Eggs Might Land In Columbus’ Brunch Universe
Columbus is not exactly starving for eggs and mimosas. The city’s brunch scene leans heavily on homegrown favorites like Northstar Cafe, which has built loyal followings over years of weekend crowds. Roundups from Columbus Underground and other local guides point to a market that values neighborhood staples and inventive menus, a lane Wild Eggs also claims for itself with its scratch-made approach.
So far, Wild Eggs has kept the specifics close to the vest. No address, franchise partner, or firm opening date has been publicly disclosed. For now, the reporting in Columbus Business First and trade coverage provide the main public breadcrumbs that a Columbus restaurant is in the works.
