PopUp Bagels, the buzzy bagel brand that has Atlantans lining up for carb therapy, has opened its second local shop in Buckhead, turning up the heat on the city’s breakfast turf war. The new spot gives early risers one more place to stand in line and tests just how far Atlanta’s fast-growing bagel craze can go after the brand’s BeltLine debut earlier this year pulled in long waits and social media hype.
According to the Atlanta Business Chronicle, the Buckhead location opened May 26 as part of a broader metro Atlanta rollout that PopUp and its franchise partners say will include additional shops across the region. The publication reports that the company is already scouting sites beyond the BeltLine and Buckhead as it makes a bigger push into the Southeast.
PopUp’s Atlanta story started on the Eastside Trail, where a Krog District shop opened on Feb. 6 at 661 Auburn Ave. NE. That store is run by franchisee Janvi Patel of Power Brands Hospitality Group. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution noted that Patel first discovered the brand on social media and is leading PopUp’s expansion around the city.
Where It’s Landing
Permit records and local reports show the Buckhead shop tucked into a compact inline space at Buckhead Landing, a very different environment from the trail-adjacent hustle of the BeltLine. As detailed by What Now Atlanta, the unit fills a former waxing studio and spans roughly 1,440 to 1,500 square feet. With a street-facing address, the store is positioned to catch commuters and neighborhood shoppers more than weekend BeltLine strollers.
Bagel Battle Heats Up
The Buckhead debut drops PopUp straight into what some outlets have already branded a neighborhood bagel fight, as national and regional players crowd in. Recent Buckhead bagel brawl coverage has highlighted rivals like Spread Bagelry targeting the same trade area. At the same time, local favorite Emerald City Bagels has expanded along the BeltLine, setting up direct competition for those precious morning dollars.
What To Expect At The Counter
PopUp sticks to a stripped-down playbook. The menu revolves around five bagel doughs and a rotating lineup of cream cheese "schmears," all served as whole bagels meant for the brand’s trademark "Grip, Rip and Dip" style of eating. The company leans heavily on pre-orders to control the rush, according to its website. Its locations directory, along with the franchise operator’s page, already lists multiple Georgia sites tied into a larger Southeast growth plan, a format the brand says lets it scale quickly. The pitch is simple, hot bagels, a few spreads, and fast turnover.
"We're thrilled that Atlanta is just as excited to meet us as we are to meet them," franchise partner Janvi Patel told Atlanta Voice. Whether Buckhead’s grab-and-go crowd embraces PopUp as enthusiastically as the BeltLine walkers did remains an open question, but this latest opening makes clear the brand is wasting no time staking out Atlanta territory.
