A gunshot inside a Bensalem hot chicken spot on Monday has police searching for a 19-year-old they say should be considered armed and dangerous.
Bensalem Township police have obtained an arrest warrant for Landon McMahon of Yardley after a gun was fired inside Asad’s Hot Chicken. Investigators say McMahon took off from the scene in a newer-model Infiniti and has not yet been found.
In a post, Bensalem Police said detectives used closed-circuit video from inside the restaurant, township intersection cameras and license-plate-reader technology to identify McMahon as the suspect. The department says the arrest warrant charges him with recklessly endangering another person, carrying a firearm without a license and related offenses, and warns the public not to approach him.
Patch published a report that includes the suspect’s photo and confirms officers found a hole in the bathroom wall and bullet fragments on the floor at Asad’s Hot Chicken. That report also says Middletown police tried to pull over the Infiniti, but McMahon allegedly fled when officers attempted the traffic stop.
Charges and what they mean
Under Pennsylvania law, "recklessly endangering another person" is defined at 18 Pa.C.S. § 2705 as a misdemeanor of the second degree. Unlawful possession or carrying of a firearm without a license is covered separately in Title 18 of the state’s criminal code. The statutes are detailed in the Pennsylvania Consolidated Statutes, and prosecutors will decide whether to file any additional charges as the investigation continues.
