Bed-Stuy’s beloved ice cream window Lady Moo Moo has quietly packed up its sprinkles and headed a few blocks east, opening a new year-round outpost in Bushwick near Irving Square Park. The Halsey Street shop brings along the candy-lined counters, thick milkshakes and ever-changing seasonal flavors that turned its tiny Chauncey Street window into a neighborhood habit.

Owner Says It’s About Neighbors, Not Chasing Growth

Owner Steven Lipschutz says the Bushwick move is less about building an empire and more about fitting into the block. “Your house is only as good as your neighbors,” he told News12 Brooklyn.

That report notes the Bushwick shop is stocked with specialty chocolates, milkshakes and nostalgic candies, keeps roughly 70 seasonal ice cream flavors in rotation and plans to stay open all year, Tuesday through Sunday, from noon to 9 p.m.

Built In Bed-Stuy, Still Churning On Chauncey

According to Lady Moo Moo, the business has been making ice cream since 1999 out of its original Chauncey Street production window, and that back-of-house hub is not going anywhere. The company says it will keep churning on Chauncey while the new Halsey Street location handles day-to-day scooping.

The locations page lists both the Chauncey window and the new Bushwick outpost and shows the Halsey shop’s year-round hours for anyone trying to time their next cone.

Bright Paint, Park Foot Traffic And Party Plans

As reported by Brownstoner, the Halsey Street storefront takes over the former cafe General Irving and is already hard to miss, wrapped in bright blue paint with cow-print signage. The plan includes a walk-up window and indoor seating, giving locals options whether they are sprinting back to the park or settling in with a sundae.

Brownstoner also notes the space is set up to host birthday parties, pop-ups and community events. To introduce itself, the shop handed out 500 scoops at a recent family day in Irving Square Park, a pretty loud hello in ice cream terms.

Flavors, Favorites And First Impressions

Early customers told News12 Brooklyn the ice cream is “super fresh” and “sweet but not too sweet,” the kind of reviews that keep a line going down the block in July.

The Infatuation’s May 21 review clocks a menu that stretches beyond cones, with ice cream sandwiches, affogatos and playful scoops like mooberry cheesecake. Regulars can expect staples such as Earl Grey and Rooftop Honey alongside a rotating cast of seasonal flavors that keep the menu from getting predictable.

For the latest hours, menu updates and event announcements, check Lady Moo Moo or its social channels. The company says the Chauncey Street window will stay active for production and seasonal service, so Bed-Stuy is not losing its scoop spot, it is just sharing.
