Kyle commuters along RR 150 are getting a new way to caffeinate without leaving the driver’s seat. On The Grind is bringing a freestanding, single-lane drive-thru coffee kiosk to 1857 W. RR 150, with construction expected to kick off this summer and wrap in 2027. The 639-square-foot setup is slated to add a quick-service coffee option to the heavily traveled RR 150 and I-35 corridor, with fans able to count on the chain’s familiar flavored mochas and refreshers when doors, or rather windows, finally open.
Plans and filings
According to WhatNow, the company has filed with state regulators to build a 639-square-foot drive-through kiosk at 1857 W. RR 150 in Kyle and has not pinned down an exact opening date. The outlet reports that this will be a drive-through-only model, not a walk-in café, which tracks with the brand’s usual approach of serving customers entirely from the lane.
State records show the standard build
Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation project registrations for On The Grind repeatedly describe a roughly 639-square-foot, freestanding drive-through footprint with similar one-year build schedules. One TDLR TABS registration, for example, lists a June 15, 2026 start and a June 15, 2027 completion for a 639-square-foot On The Grind kiosk, a timeline that mirrors the Kyle filing’s summer 2026 to 2027 schedule.
About the chain
On The Grind traces its roots to 2013 and describes itself as a locally owned drive-thru brand, per On The Grind. Its online menu highlights signature drinks such as the Hawaiian, Coconut Joy and Grasshopper, along with refreshers, shakes and smoothies, according to the On The Grind menu.
Why RR 150
City planning records show the RR 150 and I-35 area has been the focus of recent replatting and redevelopment efforts, clearing the way for new commercial projects along the corridor. A City of Kyle planning memorandum on lot adjustments near I-35 and E RR 150 underscores why developers have been zeroing in on properties in that stretch.
No public opening date has been announced yet, and the project will move forward as permits are approved and construction timelines lock in. We will keep an eye on building filings and company updates and report back when On The Grind sets a grand opening date for Kyle.
