Calypso Cafe, the Caribbean-inspired Nashville staple, is finally bringing dine-in back to West Nashville this Thursday as its Charlotte Avenue location reopens after years of operating primarily as a prep and catering kitchen. The refreshed spot now features a 70-seat dining room, outdoor patio seating, and a phased rollout of bar service with local draft and packaged craft beer. New owners David and Sally Parker, who took over the business in January 2025, say they have focused on physical upgrades and smoother service ahead of the relaunch. Regulars can still expect the familiar rotisserie chicken, Cuban black beans, callaloo greens, and the cafe’s signature fruit tea on the menu.
According to Nashville Lifestyles, the Charlotte Avenue outpost at 3307 Charlotte Ave will offer dine-in service for lunch and dinner six days a week, with hours aligned across both Calypso locations Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8:45 p.m. Owner David Parker told the outlet, “We’ve made some physical improvements to the space and streamlined service,” and the company notes that bar service will follow in the coming weeks. The return of the dining room caps off a phased plan the Parkers began laying out shortly after they took ownership.
New ownership and a staged comeback
Allison and Phil Brooks sold Calypso Cafe to cousins David and Sally Parker effective January 1, 2025, an ownership change announced in a press release from Visit Music City. At the time, the Parkers said they intended to preserve Calypso’s recipes while expanding service, and the Charlotte Avenue location began offering third-party delivery in August 2025 as part of a phased reopening plan, Axios reported. That slow-and-steady approach let the team test delivery and tweak operations before reopening the dining room to regulars.
What to expect when you go
The returning Charlotte Avenue dining room will bring back table service while keeping Calypso’s fast-casual vibe, with a menu centered on fresh sides, salads, sandwiches, and rotisserie plates. Calypso’s official site still lists the Charlotte address as “Pickup & Delivery Only,” a sign that online listings may be catching up with the relaunch, and the site’s locations page continues to show hours and contact details. If you want the latest on bar offerings or any day-of changes, your best bet is to check the restaurant’s site or call ahead.
Neighbors and regulars
Parker told Nashville Lifestyles that neighbors and regulars who had been stopping by for takeout routinely asked when the dining room would return, and he said he was “so excited that the time is here.” The reopening restores a popular lunch option for nearby neighborhoods from Sylvan Park to The Nations and reconnects the cafe with customers who have been pushing for Charlotte’s dine-in comeback. Local outlets report that the move is part of a cautious expansion intended to steady the 37-year-old brand under its new leadership.
