A late-morning crash turned a quiet Warrensville Heights nursing facility into an emergency scene Friday when a car plowed into the building, pinning a woman beneath the vehicle and injuring two others. Fire crews rushed in with hydraulic rescue tools to free the trapped woman while other responders worked to steady the damaged structure. All three people hurt in the crash were taken to area hospitals, and the entrance to the facility was later boarded up as structural experts surveyed the damage.
Rescue and Medical Response
Warrensville Heights firefighters found the woman trapped under the car when they arrived and used hydraulic rescue gear to pull her out, according to Cleveland.com. Paramedics then took her to MetroHealth Medical Center, where she was listed in stable condition, the outlet reports.
The driver of the vehicle and a second person were also injured, though less seriously. They were transported to local hospitals with what officials described as minor injuries.
Dispatch and Structural Support
The initial 911 call came in at about 10:40 a.m., and crews quickly requested the East Tech Rescue Team for a structural collapse response, as reported by WOIO. While emergency medical teams treated the injured, other responders focused on making sure the building remained safe enough to work in.
Officials later installed a single two‑post shore system to support the damaged section and boarded up the facility entrance as part of the stabilization effort, according to Cleveland.com. Fire departments from North Randall and additional neighboring agencies assisted at the scene, the outlet notes.
The Warrensville Heights Fire Department publicly thanked its partner agencies for their help and said investigators were still on site, WOIO reported. City officials have not yet released what caused the driver to hit the building, and police remained on scene as structural and safety work wrapped up.
