Cattlemens Steakhouse - the long-running California chain known for hand-cut steaks and slow-roasted prime rib - has planted its latest outpost in Elk Grove at 9105 W Stockton Boulevard. The restaurant quietly started seating guests earlier this spring, and the company says the new location brought more than 120 new hires to the neighborhood. The opening drops a family-focused steakhouse into a busy West Stockton retail strip that has watched several restaurants cycle through the same stretch in recent years.
“You get a lot of bang for your buck because fixins come with every single entrée,” Miranda Smith, a Cattlemens spokesperson, told The Sacramento Bee. The Bee noted that the Elk Grove restaurant joins existing Cattlemens locations in Rancho Cordova and Roseville, and that the chain was founded in 1968 by Pete Gillham Sr. and Pete Gillham Jr., whose roots are in cattle ranching.
Where It Is And When To Go
According to the restaurant’s own listings, the Elk Grove Cattlemens sits at 9105 W Stockton Blvd and is taking reservations for parties of eight or fewer while still welcoming walk-ins. Posted dinner hours are Monday through Thursday from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Friday through Sunday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. as the spot ramps up service. Guests are encouraged to book ahead when they can, especially during peak hours. The Cattlemens Elk Grove page lists current hours and reservations info.
Local Context
CBS Sacramento reported that the chain announced plans for the Elk Grove outpost in September 2025 and noted the site previously housed Cicada Cantina and Logan’s Roadhouse, making Cattlemens the latest name on that marquee. The outlet also pointed out that Cattlemens operates a string of Northern California locations and employs hundreds of workers companywide, framing Elk Grove as part of a slow-and-steady Sacramento-region expansion.
What To Expect Inside
The Elk Grove Citizen reported that the restaurant opened earlier in April and highlighted a bar area plus private-room spaces aimed at celebrations and meetings. At the same time, the Cattlemens site notes that the Elk Grove location is not yet booking private parties as it settles in, even though the chain offers private catering and group dining elsewhere. For now, the focus is on a menu of steaks, ribs, seafood, and family-style sides, with the company recommending reservations for smaller parties while walk-ins continue to be welcome.
