Cedar Hill voters made their picks clear in yesterday's municipal election, choosing a new face for Place 2 on the City Council while keeping the current representative in Place 6. Patty McClure Bushart won the Place 2 contest, and incumbent Maranda Auzenne secured another term in Place 6. The numbers are still unofficial until the City Council completes its canvass later this week.
Unofficial tallies and county sources
The City of Cedar Hill shared the first wave of results on its official Facebook page, reporting that Auzenne had been re-elected to Place 6 and that Bushart had come out on top in the Place 2 race. The post includes a link to Dallas County's unofficial summary of returns for the Cedar Hill precincts inside the county, per the Dallas County Elections.
Ellis County returns
According to Ellis County Elections, the Ellis County portion of Cedar Hill reported Bushart leading Ty Coleman 15 votes to 5 in the Place 2 contest, while Auzenne carried the reported Ellis precincts with 18 votes in the Place 6 race. The county's live-results portal provides precinct-level tallies and notes that all figures are unofficial until ballot deadlines pass and the political subdivision completes its canvass. The Ellis portal offers a precinct-by-precinct breakdown of Cedar Hill's vote on the Ellis County side.
What happens next
Per the City of Cedar Hill election page, city staff will formally canvass and reconcile the returns during the official canvass period from May 5 through May 13. After that, the city clerk will publish the certified results. During this window, late-arriving, provisional or cured absentee ballots can be reviewed and any discrepancies addressed. Until that certification is complete, the vote counts posted by the counties are treated as unofficial.
About the winners
Local voter guides identified Maranda K. Auzenne as the incumbent for Place 6 and listed Patty McClure Bushart among the Place 2 candidates on the ballot. The Dallas Morning News names Auzenne as the Place 6 incumbent and includes the question-and-answer section for the Place 2 race. If the canvass confirms the current counts, Auzenne will remain in Place 6 and Bushart will take the Place 2 seat once the city posts its certified election results.
