Milwaukee’s Deer District is about to go all in on dairy. The New Fashioned is flipping its patio into a cheese-focused summer playground with a pop-up called The Melt Yard, running from Friday, June 5 through Sunday, Sept. 13 and timed to catch Deer District events and pregame crowds at Fiserv Forum. Expect oversized cheese pulls, melty grilled cheeses, backyard-style games, picnic-style seating and plenty of built-for-Instagram photo spots. The space will also roll out dog-friendly programming, including adoptable-dog events on select weekends.
What To Expect
The Melt Yard is leaning hard into spectacle, with organizers promoting a 15-foot cheese-pull challenge, gooey grilled cheeses and cheese-themed photo opportunities when it opens Friday, June 5 for a run that continues through Sunday, Sept. 13, according to OnMilwaukee. The pop-up is framed as The New Fashioned expanding its Deer District footprint with a playful, picnic-like setup that encourages guests to linger before and after events. Backyard games, Instagram-ready installations and a rotating lineup of comfort-forward bites are all part of the plan.
Schedule, Dogs And Farmers Market
The Melt Yard will follow a weekly schedule that lines up with Deer District programming, with a calendar built around fitness classes, live music, pups and produce, per The New Fashioned. Thursdays sync with Fitness on Deer District Plaza, Fridays pair with live music in the Deer Garden, Saturdays focus on a pup-friendly program and Sundays serve the Deer District Farmers Market. Saturdays are branded as “Pup Pull Saturdays,” featuring pup cups, dog treats and dog-centric photo ops, and the venue has teamed with the Humane Animal Welfare Society of Waukesha County for Adoptable Dog Days on July 11, Aug. 1 and Sept. 12. The space will also open ahead of events at Fiserv Forum to capture pregame crowds.
Drinks And The Wisconsin Vibe
The drink lineup leans into local tastes and tailgate energy. Beren’s brandy Old Fashioneds, Tito’s Bloody Marys and Monster Energy products will all be on the menu, according to OnMilwaukee. Organizers are pitching The Melt Yard as a family-friendly, picnic-style hangout with sweet-and-savory s'mores and seating built for groups and pre-event gatherings, giving fans and families a playful, photo-ready staging area before arena nights.
About The New Fashioned
The New Fashioned opened in the Deer District as a Bars & Recreation style food-and-entertainment venue with bowling lanes, a frozen-custard stand and a self-serve pour wall, FOX6 reported when the location debuted. Its emphasis on group-friendly games and nostalgic local flavors sets it up as a natural home base for a cheese-forward summer pop-up aimed at visitors and arena crowds.
Reservations, hours and the full Melt Yard menu are listed through The New Fashioned. Organizers note that reservations are available throughout the summer and that the yard will open before major Fiserv Forum events to welcome fans and families looking to pregame with a side of cheese.
