Boston University police arrested a 29-year-old Chelsea man Thursday after what prosecutors describe as a barrage of threatening and harassing messages aimed at students, deans and other members of the BU community. Authorities say the defendant posted photos of shell casings, a dean’s home and other apparent targets after a visit to a shooting range, along with references to a mass-shooting threat. He is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in the Brighton Division of Boston Municipal Court.
What prosecutors say happened
According to The Boston Globe, the Suffolk County district attorney’s office identified the suspect as Maximillien Sajous, 29, of Chelsea, and said Boston University police took him into custody Thursday. Prosecutors told reporters that social media posts and photographs tied to the account included images taken after a visit to a shooting range and material they characterized as threatening.
Who prosecutors say he is
Per a LinkedIn profile cited in reporting, Sajous is listed as a law student at Boston University and has served on the editorial board of BU’s Law Review. The profile places him in Greater Boston and was linked to in news coverage of the arrest.
Court records and what comes next
Brighton court records showed at least four warrants were issued for Sajous’s arrest between April 27 and May 6 on alleged offenses including threatening to commit a crime, stalking and a bomb or hijack threat, prosecutors told The Boston Globe. The matter is scheduled for arraignment Friday in the Brighton Division of Boston Municipal Court, where a judge will review probable cause and any charges brought by prosecutors.
Court filings and Friday’s arraignment are expected to provide more detail about the allegations and the next steps in the case. Additional information should become public once the court record is filed and reviewed at the arraignment.
