Auburn Police are asking the public for help finding Derek Frohock, a 38-year-old man who walked away from his Auburn residence on September 1 and has not been seen since. Investigators say Frohock was last spotted in the area of Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester, and they believe he may be traveling by train toward the Boston and Salem area.
According to a Facebook post from Auburn Police Department, information received by investigators suggests Frohock may have been heading toward the Queen Street area of Worcester. Police describe him as a white male. No current clothing description was available at the time of the post. Anyone with information is asked to contact Auburn Police at 508-832-7777.
The Queen Street reference in the department's bulletin points to an area of Worcester. Saint Vincent Hospital, where Frohock was last seen, is also in Worcester.
A Pattern of Transit-Dependent Disappearances
This is not the first time Frohock has gone missing under similar circumstances. In April 2026, he was reported missing after being dropped off in Worcester from his Auburn group home, and he was located safe three days later, according to the same Auburn Police Department Facebook page. During that earlier search, police noted that Frohock frequents train stations and has been known to wait for strangers or commuters to buy him train tickets toward Boston, Salem, or Harvard Square, behavior that is now shaping how investigators think about his current whereabouts.
Reaching Salem from Worcester by rail is not a simple trip. Per the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority, Worcester trains use South Station and northbound routes use North Station. Police notices from April also placed Frohock at the Kiva Center on Shrewsbury Street before his disappearance.
Discrepancies in Physical Description
An April 2026 notice listed him at 5 feet 9 inches tall and 250 pounds. Auburn Police continue to manage the search and are urging anyone who sees Frohock or has information on his location to call the department's non-emergency line.
The search continues as police ask for information about Frohock's whereabouts and work to confirm that he is safe.
