Early risers in San Antonio stepped out to clouds, humidity and a hint of wind this morning. As of about 5:10 a.m. CDT, the San Antonio weather station was reporting overcast skies and a muggy 68°F. The cloud cover should thin by late morning, with the afternoon warming into the low 80s. Commuters should be ready for strengthening north-northeast winds that may turn gusty as the day goes on.
Afternoon Winds Pick Up
Mostly sunny skies are on tap this afternoon, with a high near 83°F. North-northeast winds around 10 mph, with gusts up to 20 mph, will make exposed roads, porches and patios feel noticeably blustery. Secure loose outdoor furniture and use extra caution with any high-profile outdoor plans during the evening commute.
Heat Safety
Temperatures climb back toward the 90s later this week, so keep water and shade handy if you will be outdoors. The City of San Antonio has tips and a map of cool places such as libraries, senior centers and community hubs for anyone who needs relief. Check on elderly neighbors, avoid strenuous activity during peak afternoon heat, and call 3-1-1 for local assistance if needed.
Week Ahead
A warm trend develops: highs in the mid-80s on Tuesday give way to low-90s by Wednesday, with readings holding in the low-90s through Friday as southerly winds add humidity. There is a slight chance of showers and a few thunderstorms late Saturday night into Sunday, with rain chances around 20 to 30 percent.
