Adam E. Olson, convicted in 2022 of possessing child pornography, is set to be released from prison on Tuesday and return to Washington County, according to a community notification issued Friday by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Officials stressed that the alert is meant to keep residents informed and that Olson is not wanted by law enforcement.
In a Facebook post, the Washington County Sheriff's Office said Olson was convicted in 2022 of one count of possession of child pornography and is scheduled for release on Tuesday (June 2). He will remain on probation until June 2, 2036. Authorities say Olson plans to live in the Town of Trenton and that his supervision will be handled by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections’ Division of Community Corrections.
The sheriff’s office also listed contacts for anyone with questions or concerns: Probation/Parole Agent Emma Jansky at 262-335-5665, Sex Offender Registry Specialist Alyssa Angell at 608-240-5830 and Sgt. Michael Hennes at 262-365-5054.
What the law allows
State law permits agencies to issue these types of advisories. Under Wis. Stat. 301.46(2m), an agency with jurisdiction may send out a written notification when it determines a person’s release is relevant to public safety. The statute also spells out what details may be shared, including conviction information, the offender’s address and which agency is supervising the individual.
Registry and resources
The Wisconsin Department of Corrections maintains a public sex offender registry, along with an FAQ explaining how community notifications work, how to sign up for alerts and where to report problems or suspicious behavior. The registry site includes a standing scam warning and lists a dedicated DOC Sex Offender Registry phone line for questions. For more information, visit the DOC Sex Offender Registry FAQ.
The Washington County notice underscores that Olson has completed the prison portion of his sentence and is not currently being sought by police. Residents who want to confirm his registration status or review any restrictions are directed to the DOC registry and the county’s community notification.
Anyone with questions or information is asked to contact Probation/Parole Agent Emma Jansky at 262-335-5665, the DOC Sex Offender Registry at 608-240-5830, or Sgt. Michael Hennes at 262-365-5054. “This notification is not intended to increase fear, but rather it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public,” the sheriff’s post states.
