
A late-night gathering on Center Street in Middleborough ended in violence Thursday, with police saying a 35-year-old man was held against his will and stabbed. Two local men now face criminal charges in connection with the incident, one of them under arrest and the other still on the run, while the victim recovers from injuries that police say are not expected to be fatal.
Late-Night Call And Victim’s Condition
Middleborough police say officers were called to a home on Center Street around 11 p.m. Thursday for a report of a stabbing. When they arrived, they found that two suspects had taken off after what investigators describe as an argument that turned violent.
According to police, the 35-year-old victim was allegedly restrained, beaten and stabbed in the back of the head, then taken to a local hospital. The victim is expected to survive, police told NBC Boston.
Who Police Say Is In Custody, Who Is Still Wanted
Police have identified two Middleborough men as suspects. Jason Hancock, 43, was arrested at his home and is charged with kidnapping, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery and witness intimidation.
Investigators say a warrant has been issued for 46-year-old Nicholas Bernier of Middleborough on charges of kidnapping, two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery and witness intimidation. Bernier "remains on the loose," and Hancock was scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Wareham District Court, NBC Boston reports.
