A routine afternoon at a Frayser Burger King turned into a full-blown investigation scene Wednesday, as police and fire crews converged on the restaurant and shut down the surrounding corner.
Officers blocked off the 2600 block of North Hollywood Street near James Road, stringing crime-scene tape around the Burger King and its adjacent parking lot while emergency personnel set up a perimeter. By late afternoon, officials had not said what triggered the heavy response, and the corner remained closed to customers as investigators stayed on site.
According to WREG, both Memphis police and the Memphis Fire Department responded, with officers surrounding the property in marked units. Photos from the scene, credited to Greg Rufus, show multiple emergency vehicles and personnel clustered around the restaurant. WREG reported it planned to update its coverage as authorities released more details.
