
An 86-year-old woman from Cleveland died Sunday after her SUV left Level Grove Road in Cornelia and struck a tree, according to state officials. The single-vehicle wreck happened as the driver was negotiating a left-hand curve on the two-lane road. Troopers with the Georgia State Patrol later confirmed the driver had been fatally injured.
According to Now Georgia, the Department of Public Safety's public information office said preliminary findings from GSP Post 7 in Toccoa indicate a 2013 Honda CR-V was traveling east on Level Grove Road when it exited the travel lane to the right after negotiating a left curve, struck a curb and sidewalk, then crossed back over the roadway and hit a tree before coming to an uncontrolled rest. The driver was identified as 86-year-old Fiorella Weaver of Cleveland, and the crash was reported at about 2:10 p.m. The Georgia State Patrol said its investigation remains ongoing.
