Hilliard police say a Columbus man is facing a rape charge after a chaotic night that started with a car slamming into a brick wall outside a neighborhood bar and ended with his roommate telling officers she had been sexually assaulted. The suspect, identified by authorities as Lane Tyler Boor, is being held while the case moves through court, and investigators say their work is not finished yet.
According to a police complaint described by NBC4 WCMH-TV, the chain of events began on May 16, when the woman crashed her vehicle into a brick wall in the parking lot of Wilson’s Bar & Grill. The complaint attached to the police report states that after the crash, Boor texted and yelled at the woman to come back to the apartment the two share, told other people who were there to leave, then grabbed her by the arm and threw her down once they were alone. The document alleges he pinned her so she could not move and sodomized her while telling her to “sleep it off.”
Where police say it happened
Mapping listings put Wilson’s Bar & Grill at 5242 Cemetery Road in Hilliard, the location police named as the crash site. Both MapQuest and local business directories show the bar and restaurant on Cemetery Road in northwest Hilliard.
Charges and next steps
Boor has been charged with rape, and a municipal court judge set his bond at $75,000, according to NBC4 WCMH-TV. Police say a preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 29, and the case will continue through the local court system as investigators and prosecutors review the evidence.
Hilliard police say the investigation remains active and ask anyone with information about the crash or the reported assault to contact detectives. The allegations outlined in the complaint have not been proven in court, and Boor remains presumed innocent unless and until he is found guilty in a court of law.
