Dallas police are asking residents across the city to help locate 21-year-old Jonathan Hill Jr., who is wanted on an aggravated robbery warrant and faces two counts of unlawful restraint of a minor. Investigators described Hill as about 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. The alert, posted Thursday, urges anyone with information to get in touch with detectives.
According to the Dallas Police Department, Hill is wanted in connection with an aggravated robbery reported Nov. 8 in the 1100 block of West Davis Street, as well as two counts of unlawful restraint of a minor tied to an incident investigators say happened March 26 in the 2500 block of West Mockingbird Lane. The post lists case numbers 162178-2025 and 042861-2026 and repeats Hill’s age and physical description. It also notes that Crime Stoppers will pay for information that leads to an arrest and indictment.
The department has increasingly turned to social media for public help while pursuing violent-crime suspects across the city, and this latest alert fits that pattern. Local outlets have followed the trend, with The Dallas Morning News covering earlier searches for suspects and the role of tip-line rewards in generating leads.
What the charges mean
Under Texas law, aggravated robbery, which can involve a deadly weapon or cause serious bodily injury, is charged as a first-degree felony under the Texas Penal Code. Unlawful restraint is defined in Section 20.02 of the code and can be elevated to a state jail felony when the person restrained is younger than 17, according to the code. Those classifications carry potential prison terms and long-term consequences if a defendant is convicted.
Dallas police did not release additional details beyond the department’s post. Anyone who sees Hill is asked not to approach him and instead to call 911 or Crime Stoppers at 214-373-TIPS (8477), referencing the case numbers listed by investigators.
