Two adults were killed yesterday in a violent two-vehicle crash on Detroit’s west side, according to the Detroit Police Department. The rollover wreck happened at about 4:30 a.m. near W. Davison and Woodrow Wilson, where officers arrived to find one vehicle flipped over. Emergency crews and investigators stayed on scene into the morning as authorities began the painstaking work of reconstructing the collision.
As reported by WXYZ, a DPD spokesperson said two vehicles collided, and one overturned, and confirmed that two people were pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators were still working to determine which occupants were in which vehicle and said the inquiry into the cause remains ongoing.
Statewide crash context
The deadly crash adds to a grim statewide trend on Michigan roads. There were more than 1,095 traffic fatalities in 2023, according to the Michigan Traffic Crash Facts database. Detroit police told WXYZ that crash investigators remained on scene yesterday morning and that the probe is still active. Officials have not yet released additional information about the victims or what may have led up to the collision.
