A late-night shooting outside the George A. Caravalho Santa Clarita Sports Complex left one man dead and another in critical condition on Saturday, authorities said, turning a popular recreation hub into an active crime scene.
Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies responded to the 20800 block of Centre Pointe Parkway at about 10:50 p.m. and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds. Both were taken to a local hospital, where one of the men was later pronounced dead. He has not been publicly identified. The second victim remains in critical condition. A person of interest was detained at the scene, though it was not immediately clear whether charges would be filed and no additional details were released, according to CBS News Los Angeles.
