A 32-year-old Volusia County man is back in jail after deputies say he assaulted the same woman while she was out jogging, marking the second alleged attack on her in less than a year. The victim, who asked not to be named, said she fought him off and immediately called 911.
According to FOX 35 Orlando, deputies say the arrest followed a report that a stranger approached the jogger near the post office in DeBary and grabbed her. Local TV coverage has cast the case as a disturbing repeat for an area where many residents routinely run and walk.
What Deputies Say They Found
Volusia County deputies say they detained the suspect near S. Charles Richard Beall Boulevard and Lake Drive after the victim reported the attack. According to WESH, deputies recovered a glass pipe with methamphetamine residue and two notebooks containing multiple female names, along with crude remarks and obscene drawings. Investigators later linked the same man to a similar attack on the woman last May, the outlet reports.
"This man just came up to me and completely sexually assaulted me," the victim told WESH. She said she hit the attacker and called 911, adding that she did not immediately recognize him from the earlier assault because his appearance had changed.
Charges And Court History
WFTV reports the suspect, identified in arrest records as Cameron David Lyons, was booked on multiple counts, including felony battery and stalking. Deputies told reporters the stalking charge is tied to what they describe as a repeated pattern of harassment and assault toward the same jogger.
The victim said she has stopped running in the area and wants others who exercise outdoors to stay alert. Authorities say the investigation remains active and that booking and charging details are available through Volusia County court records and the sheriff's office.
