A midday fight inside a west side Detroit home turned violent yesterday when a man trying to break it up was shot and critically wounded, police said.
The shooting happened just after noon yesterday inside a residence on Nall Street near Grand Boulevard and Buchanan Street. The victim was rushed to a hospital in critical condition, and Detroit police say the investigation is ongoing.
According to ClickOnDetroit, the man stepped in to separate people involved in an altercation when someone opened fire during the struggle. Detectives were still processing the scene and speaking with witnesses Thursday afternoon, the report said.
Investigation and tips
The Detroit Police Department is leading the probe. Anyone with information is asked to call the DPD Homicide Unit at 313-596-2260 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP, per the City of Detroit.
As with similar cases, detectives are expected to review nearby video, collect physical evidence, and continue interviewing anyone who might have seen or heard the confrontation.
Where this fits
The shooting comes as Detroit officials have been highlighting 2025 as a year of steep declines in violent crime, including homicides and nonfatal shootings, which fell to levels not seen in decades, according to Michigan Public. Even so, single incidents like Thursday’s violence are a stark reminder that public safety remains a day-to-day concern in neighborhoods across the city.
We will update this story as police release more information.
