After seven years in the heart of Grand Central Market, Fat + Flour, Nicole Rucker’s pie-and-cookie stall, will serve its last slices this Sunday. Rucker chose not to renew the stall’s lease and will now focus on running the larger bakery and cafe in Culver City.
Fat + Flour's Announcement
In a statement to Eater LA, the Fat + Flour team thanked downtown regulars and market management, writing, "After almost seven years, it's time for us to move on from our wonderfully supportive community and first location at Grand Central Market." Grand Central Market replied publicly under Rucker’s Instagram post with its own farewell: "Nicole Rucker, we love you and the entire team at Fat + Flour. Thank you for an incredible seven years."
A DTLA Root And A Westside Future
Rucker's operation started as a temporary pop-up before becoming a permanent stall in 2019, running out of a compact 125-square-foot corner of the market, per Eater LA. The move to a full cafe in Culver City has given the bakery room to grow, and the Westside address and ordering options are listed on the Fat + Flour site.
Rucker has also picked up national recognition, named a James Beard Foundation semifinalist in both 2024 and 2025, per the 2024 list from the James Beard Foundation and the 2025 list from the James Beard Foundation.
A Vacancy In A Crowded Market
Grand Central Market is no stranger to turnover, with long-running stalls regularly making way for new concepts that reshape the downtown food hall. When a legacy tenant leaves, the space can be handed to a new vendor or fully reimagined, as reported by the Los Angeles Times after a recent closure. With Fat + Flour stepping away, shoppers and neighboring vendors will be watching to see who takes over the stall or how management decides to repurpose the footprint.

Fat + Flour will remain open at Grand Central Market through this Sunday, while the Culver City cafe at 11739 W. Washington Blvd will continue serving pies, cookies and an expanded menu, according to Fat + Flour. The bakery’s online ordering pages and phone numbers are still active for takeout and catering during its final week at the market.
