Deputies in east Harris County made a grim discovery Tuesday when they found a man dead inside a vehicle at the intersection of Patch and Waldine, authorities said. Responding to a call for service, deputies pronounced the driver dead at the scene in the neighborhood south of the East Freeway and west of Beltway 8.

According to KHOU, deputies found the driver inside the vehicle with possible gunshot wounds and confirmed he died at the scene. Investigators from the sheriff’s office were seen processing the car and canvassing the surrounding blocks for evidence and surveillance footage, going door to door in search of anything that might explain how the man ended up dead behind the wheel.

The sheriff’s office said the investigation is active as detectives work to piece together what happened and determine whether a suspect is involved. Officials have not released details on a possible motive or any suspect description. Similar incidents have appeared across the county this spring, including a May 12 case in Katy where deputies found a man with multiple gunshot wounds in a vehicle, as reported by FOX 26.
