A 33-year-old man died at a hospital after being shot late Monday night in Pittsburgh's East Hills, following what authorities described as heavy gunfire. Police said they were first alerted to the shooting and later tracked down a vehicle that had been headed to the hospital with the wounded man inside.
Gunfire Alerts And Police Response
Pittsburgh Public Safety said Zone 5 officers were called to the area of East Hills Drive after three ShotSpotter alerts registered a total of 32 rounds. Responding officers were then notified that a man had been shot and was being driven to the hospital in a private vehicle, according to CBS Pittsburgh.
Victim Identified
Officers located the vehicle along Penn Avenue in the Point Breeze neighborhood and found the man had been shot in the chest. Medics took him to the hospital in critical condition, and he died shortly after arriving. The Allegheny County Medical Examiner's Office identified the victim as Isaiah Booker, 33, of West Homestead, per Pittsburgh Public Safety.
Investigation Underway
The Mobile Crime Unit responded to process evidence, recover shell casings, and review camera footage near the scene. Detectives from the Violent Crime Unit are leading the ongoing investigation, and police said no arrests have been made, according to CBS Pittsburgh.

Pittsburgh officials have credited ShotSpotter and city-installed cameras with helping officers locate gunfire and gather evidence in recent years. City releases note that the system can pinpoint where rounds were fired, and speed response times, a capability public safety leaders say can aid investigations and save lives, according to Pittsburgh Public Safety.
