A Thursday night gathering at a north Minneapolis home ended with gunfire and one man in the hospital with possible life-threatening injuries, according to police. Investigators say the shooting followed a dispute during a private get-together at the residence.
Police response and scene
Officers were called to the area near 6th Street North just before 9 p.m. after multiple 911 callers reported shots fired. Responding officers did not initially find a victim at the scene, but investigators later located evidence of gunfire in the alley behind the home. Early information suggests an argument broke out among people at the gathering shortly before shots rang out, and no arrests have been made so far, according to KSTP.
Not long after the incident, a man showed up at a local hospital with injuries police described as potentially life-threatening. Investigators believe he was wounded in the alley shooting tied to the earlier dispute at the residence.
How does this fit a wider pattern
The late-night gunfire adds to a string of recent Twin Cities incidents where large groups or post-event gatherings have turned violent. In St. Paul, a downtown scene tied to a May 4 graduation event produced dozens of shell casings and eventually led to arrests after a follow-up investigation. Earlier this week, a fatal shooting at an Eid prayer gathering in Shakopee underscored the region’s recent run of high-profile shootings, as reported by ABC News.
Investigation ongoing
Minneapolis police say the case remains active as they work to identify who pulled the trigger and what exactly sparked the dispute. No arrests have been announced, and authorities are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact investigators, per KSTP.
