
A two-alarm fire tore through New Nice China Town, a Chinese takeout spot at 1411 Foster Ave in Flatbush, on Wednesday evening, sending thick smoke curling over the sidewalk as FDNY units flooded the block and scrambled to knock down the flames.
Firefighters rushed to the scene just before 5:45 p.m., according to News 12 New York. The FDNY told the outlet the two-alarm blaze started on the building’s first floor and drew a sizable response from nearby companies that converged on the stretch of Foster Avenue.
Citizen app footage showed smoke pouring into the street while firefighters pushed their way inside and attacked the interior, with crews working through heavy conditions, according to News 12 New York. Fire marshals were on scene as the last of the overhaul wrapped up and investigators began the slower task of figuring out exactly what sparked the blaze.

New Nice China Town, listed at 1411 Foster Ave and long known as a go-to neighborhood takeout, has been a steady presence on the block, according to local listings. Restaurantji and mapping services list the restaurant’s address and hours, reflecting the regular foot traffic it drew before the fire.
